Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund is committed to safeguarding your privacy. In the process of our work, we will use information collected from our supporters and beneficiaries to provide products and services, to help us understand more about how our website and other resources are used, and to be sure we are providing appropriate services in the best way.

The statement below is a requirement of the UK Data Protection Act.  Its aim is to make our supporters aware of our data collection and processing practices.

Please read this policy carefully, as it will help you understand how we handle your personal information.  As this policy may change from time to time, please do check back for updates.


The Information We Collect

Personally identifiable information includes names, e-mail and postal address, telephone and fax numbers, date of birth and bank card details.


How We Collect This Information

Whenever you place an enquiry with us, register for any of our services or publications, make a donation or in any other way communicate with us, we will collect your personal information.  We may also collect your personally identifiable information from third parties.


The People Collecting Personal Information

Within our website, when you are asked to complete a form that includes personal information, this information Is received and viewed solely by Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund staff.  Any exceptions will be clearly stated before you reach the form.  For example, when you make an online donation, your information is handled by carefully selected third-party financial processing companies.


How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to provide our supporters with products, services and information resources requested by the individual concerned.  This data is also used in administration, and to further our charitable aims and objectives, including fundraising.  We may need to share personal information with third-party service providers to carry out these activities.

We will only use personal information in direct marketing activities if the law allows us to do so, and if we have been given consent by the owner of that information.  Supporters can choose to “opt out” of these activities at any time by contacting us in writing at; The Manna House, 73 Boundary Brook Road, Iffley, Oxford  OX4 4AL, ENGLAND, or by emailing admin@daisyfund.org.


Sharing Personal Information With Others

Generally, Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund will not disclose any personally identifiable information, unless we have express permission, or we are required to do so by law (for example, when running a criminal records check for potential volunteers).

We may share personal information with our third party service providers for marketing purposes, and we will also use this information ourselves to contact you for marketing purposes.  We never sell or rent personal information, and do not share information, except in the pursuit of our charitable aims.  We may occasionally agree with mutually aligned organisations to contact one another’s supporters, when there is a clear potential benefit to all parties.


Giving Consent

When an individual chooses to submit information to Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund, they are giving their consent to that information being used in the process of meeting their requests. 

Consent is also then given for us to transfer such information, if required by us, to countries outside the UK, which may not operate equivalent high level data protection programs.  Where appropriate, we will require the third-party to enter into a contract with us to ensure continued protection of personal information.

Supporters are invited to agree to or decline receipt of further information about our work.  Where consent is given, we may communicate by email or regular mail.  Further information may include direct mailings, where we consider the recipient would be interested.


Use of 'Cookies'

'Cookies' are small text files sent from a web server to a user’s web browser, and saved on the hard drive.  They enable the server to retrieve certain information from the browser.  Cookies do not give anyone access to the user’s computer beyond the active internet browser.

We may use cookies to optimize user interaction with our website. to identify returning users, and to keep track of browsing activities.

All visitors to our website are free to block cookies from our website.  However, disabling these cookies may interfere with enjoyment and effective use of our website.

All communication from our website (email forms, donations etc) is processed on secure servers.  We are committed to protecting the personal information of our supporters, but we cannot guarantee security of information supplied to us via the internet or regular mail.  Information is therefore provided at the user’s own risk. Once the information is received by us, it is kept secure on our own computers.  We endeavour to ensure this information remains accurate and up to date..


Right of Access

Everyone has the right to request a copy of their personal information held by us (though we may charge a small administration fee for this), to update that information and to request its withdrawal from our systems.

We encourage our supporters to help us keep their personal information accurate and up-to-date, by informing us of changes.

We reserve the right to revise this policy at any time.  When so doing, notices of change will be clearly signed within our website, and we will consider continuing users to be accepting of these updates.

We request that anyone under 18 years of age who is accessing our website should let an adult know about their activities.
